In ‘The Gelderlander’ newspaper from 17th September 1992 it was stated that ‘the Crossing of Veterans’ would go on after 1994. This was obvious as the interest of Veterans to visit the graves of their comrades, to revive old friendships and to attend commemorate ceremonies, was increasing. This year, 55 years after Operation Market-Garden, once again about 300 British Veterans visited the area, a number nobody would have been expected in view of your age. During the parade at the Trianus square on the 16th September 1999 the expression in your eyes told us more than a thousand words. For me it is an unwritten history book, a book that tells about the struggle of life, a hard life but a proud one.
